The CPRF submitted a bill on citizens’ digital rights to the State Duma. But it has little chance

The CPRF has submitted to the State Duma a bill “On State Guarantees of Citizens’ Digital Rights,” Vedomosti writes.

🔹Under the bill, all Russian citizens should have the right to access the internet, freedom of expression in the digital environment, protection of personal data, and the right to anonymity.

🔹Citizens’ access to the internet should be restricted only on the basis of a court decision or in the event of a confirmed cyberattack.

“Under current laws, people have only an abstract right to access information, which we in the CPRF consider unacceptable,” said Sergei Obukhov, deputy chairman of the chamber’s committee on civil society development.

🔹A Vedomosti source in the State Duma assesses the chances of the CPRF initiative being passed as extremely low.
