State-run VTsIOM center records Putin’s approval rating falling for the sixth week in a row

Putin’s job approval rating from April 6 to 12, according to a VTsIOM poll, was 66.7% (-1.1 percentage points over the past week). Asked a direct question about trust in Putin, 72.0% of respondents answered positively (-1.8 percentage points).

🔵Yesterday on TV Rain, political scientist Abbas Gallyamov stressed that the answers to VTsIOM’s closed questions — about trust in Putin and approval of his performance — can be disregarded.

The political scientist urged people to pay attention to the open-ended question at the end of the questionnaire, where Putin’s surname is not mentioned and no answer options are offered.

When answering this open-ended question, Putin’s rating previously stood at just 29.5%. The April 6–12 rating does not include an open-ended question about trust in politicians.
