Russia’s Foreign Ministry hopes for the extradition of the suspended ICC prosecutor who secured arrest warrants for Putin and Netanyahu

On Friday, International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutor Karim Khan was suspended from office over allegations of sexual harassment. Russia’s Foreign Ministry reacted to the news today. The ministry’s Legal Department said:

As for K. Khan himself, he will no longer enjoy immunity as an international official in the states parties to the Rome Statute.

We hope this will help secure his extradition to Russia so that he can be held accountable for attempting the criminal prosecution of persons known to be innocent and for an attempt on persons enjoying international protection

🔵At Khan’s request, the ICC issued arrest warrants in 2023 for Putin and children’s ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova. In 2024, Khan also requested arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the country’s defense minister Yoav Gallant.
