EU prepares new sanctions against those responsible for the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children
This is stated in the draft reviewed by Radio Liberty.
It describes these actions as "serious violations of international law and violations of the fundamental rights of the child aimed at destroying Ukrainian identity."
The sanctions are proposed, in particular, against the all-Russian children's center Smena, which is linked to the Ministry of Education. The document says that it "receives underage Ukrainians forcibly taken from occupied territories, where they are subjected to ideological indoctrination and 'Russification.'"
It is also proposed to add the Avangard Educational and Methodological Center for Military-Patriotic Youth Education to the sanctions list, which is aimed at the "political indoctrination" of children and conducts military training classes.
The document mentions officials responsible for the adoption of Ukrainian children by Russian families, and people involved in the paramilitary training of minors or in organizing meetings with Russian military personnel, "Dialogues with Heroes."
EU ambassadors are expected to approve the new sanctions on May 6.
