5,000 convicts joined the Russian army in one month.

Could a Russian “patriot” in 2021 have imagined that, after attacking Ukraine, the Russian Federation’s contract army would be smashed, battles for the ruins of a single village would last for years, and to make up for losses they would begin mass recruiting convicts from prisons and Black African mercenaries? Well, welcome from imperial fantasies to harsh reality.

The way the Kremlin has turned the manning of the Russian Armed Forces with the so-called “special contingent” into an assembly line will go down in history alongside Operation “T-4” from the time of the Third Reich. Back then, the Nazis launched a eugenics program to sterilize and kill “surplus people unworthy of life.” Now, so that 1.5 million people do not flee Russia for a second time, as they did after the mobilization in 2022, the Kremlin is sending “surplus second-class people” to the slaughter, as State Duma deputy Alexander Borodai says.

First and foremost, these are convicted prisoners, people under investigation, and defendants. In essence, these are vulnerable categories who are presented with a choice: either prison or the front. The system is now built so that investigators offer suspects and accused persons in criminal cases the closure of the criminal case if they sign a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry. Prisoners serving sentences are not only offered a contract, but forced into one.

Now in Russia you can rob, kill, and rape without fearing punishment. Just sign a contract, receive a million-ruble payout, and if you survive, they will take you to schools to meet children as a “hero of the SVO.” And if you are killed, then all the better for the country: a criminal, “second class,” has died.

❗️We are publishing a name-by-name list of convicts and people under investigation recruited from prisons and pretrial detention centers:

The list contains 5,006 people who signed contracts in one of the winter months of this year. That means around 60,000 convicted prisoners and people under investigation alone will be recruited into the red-banner Guards army of the Russian Federation. Russian victims of crimes and people deceived by thugs can review the list; perhaps they will find their offenders there already in a new status.

As we can see, all ages are being swept up from prisons, from 18 to 65. This list has the largest number of recruits from Chelyabinsk Oblast, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Sverdlovsk, Irkutsk, and Volgograd oblasts, as well as Bashkortostan. At least 149 people were recruited in places of detention on the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine.

There is no other banana republic in the world where such practices have been turned into an assembly line. Where a person who has committed a serious crime not only receives no punishment, they are not even tried, but are given a military uniform and a weapon. We will see how this cannibalistic experiment ends. The Kremlin hopes that those released from prisons will be killed in the war, and as for what to do with those who survive and return to their villages as veterans, let the local authorities deal with that.

Prisons Patch The Army Again

The list names 5,006 prisoners and suspects who signed contracts in one winter month.

When the army ran out, prison helped.
