Melania Trump sent “personal letters” to Putin and Zelensky through Russian and Ukrainian representatives
The wife of US President Donald Trump made the announcement at a White House meeting with Russian and Ukrainian representatives following the ceasefire in occupied Oleshky, Kherson region.
“As this historic moment comes to an end, I have written personal letters to President Putin and President Zelensky. David (Arakhamia — editor’s note) and Kirill (Dmitriev — editor’s note), please deliver these letters to your presidents on my behalf,” she said.
Trump added that she began preparing the humanitarian mission in Oleshky back in September. Russia and Ukraine signed an agreement in two languages on October 23. She said that nearly 900 people had received medical care as a result.
David Arakhamia, head of the Servant of the People faction in Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada, and Ukrainian ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets presented Trump with the Order of Princess Olga, First Class, which President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded her the previous day. Arakhamia called the ceasefire “the largest de-escalation since 2022.”
Kirill Dmitriev, a special representative of President Vladimir Putin, thanked her for her assistance and said Putin had personally issued the necessary instructions for a ceasefire in Oleshky and highly valued Donald Trump’s peacemaking efforts.
Dmitriev may try to use Trump to convey a message that was not passed on through Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, political scientist Georgy Chizhov previously said on TV Rain.
