Colonel General Alexander Chaiko appointed new commander-in-chief of Russia’s Aerospace Forces

Colonel General Alexander Chaiko has been appointed the new commander-in-chief of Russia’s Aerospace Forces. He has been accused of involvement in the killings of Bucha residents

RBC reports this, citing sources.

The pro-Russian Aerospace Forces Z-channel Fighterbomber also writes about Chaiko’s appointment: “I personally fought with him in Syria, I can’t say anything bad. He got involved, looked into things, resolved all issues, personally assigned us tasks and also personally monitored the results of the work.”

In March, Chaiko was placed under European Union sanctions. The restrictions were imposed on Russian military commanders who “commanded their units at the time hundreds of civilians were killed.” Chaiko also figured in investigations into the killing of civilians in Bucha.

Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office accused servicemen of the 76th Guards Air Assault Division, commanded by Major General Sergei Chubarykin, of war crimes in Bucha. Chaiko was his superior.
