Social spending is being cut across the country to fund the war

In Primorye, residents are being warned of delays in social benefits because of spending on the “special military operation.” In the Rostov region, authorities are refusing to raise public-sector workers’ salaries. On Sakhalin, inflation-linked pay increases for medical workers have been frozen. In Yakutia, public-sector pay raises have been postponed because of spending on contract soldiers. And in the Irkutsk region, mass layoffs are being prepared amid a huge budget deficit.

The war is ruining our country. While Putin increases military spending every year, regions are being forced to cut back more and more on teachers, doctors, and social benefits. And the longer the war goes on, the more all of us will have to pay for it.
