Kyrgyzstan has demanded that Russia send home its citizens who were deceived into joining the Russian army. Kazakhstan previously issued a similar diplomatic note

The Kyrgyz Embassy sent a diplomatic note to Russia’s Foreign Ministry calling for the return of 21-year-old Elistan Toktogulov from the Talas region. He was recruited to fight in the war in Ukraine “as a result of fraudulent actions by unidentified individuals.”

As Azattyq Asia reports, in the fall of 2026, a recruiter offered him a job on social media as a security guard or driver in Russia for 110,000 rubles. In Russia, Toktogulov was forced to sign a contract with the Defense Ministry and sent to a training ground in the Voronezh region.

Kyrgyz authorities called on Moscow to release the recruit and find those responsible for recruiting him so they can be held accountable.
