The youngest person on the terrorist register turns out to be a neighbor of a military pilot who was blown up near his home in St. Petersburg. The boy’s father is a scientist at the Aerospace Forces academy

Nikolai Nikitin, currently the youngest person on Rosfinmonitoring’s register of “terrorists and extremists” (he turned 14 in July), lived in the same building as Lieutenant Colonel Sergei Sechkov, a helicopter pilot who was blown up near St. Petersburg in August this year. This follows from leaked data examined by Important Stories.

🔵 Nikitin and his family lived on Kolpinskoye Highway in Shushary. His building is in Slavyanka, a residential district that is effectively under military control — the Defense Ministry purchased housing there for military personnel on a large scale.

🔵 Sergei Sechkov, chief of staff of the 332nd Independent Helicopter Regiment of the 6th Air and Air Defense Forces Army, also lived in the same building. Leaked data shows that he ordered goods to that address at least three times in 2023. Sechkov was killed near his home on August 27. His car exploded at around ten in the morning outside a neighboring building on Kolpinskoye Highway.

According to investigators, Ukrainian intelligence services were behind the murder, and the person who carried it out was a 24-year-old woman from Russia who had planted a bomb under Sechkov’s car the previous day and flew to Turkey the next day. After the incident, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case.

🔵 According to leaked data, the 14-year-old’s father, 43-year-old Roman Nikitin, had worked since 2021 in the 5th research department of the research institute at the Mozhaysky Military Space Academy in St. Petersburg. In other users’ phone contacts, Roman is listed as an employee of the academy’s 13th department.

The Mozhaysky Military Space Academy is the main higher education institution for the Russian Armed Forces’ Aerospace Forces and a leading research institution for Russia’s military space program. It trains both Aerospace Forces officers and personnel for military intelligence. What exactly the 5th department, where the elder Nikitin worked, does is unknown. It is not mentioned in open sources or on the academy’s website.

🔵 The available information does not make it possible to say conclusively whether 14-year-old Nikolai Nikitin’s case is connected to Lieutenant Colonel Sechkov’s murder. On November 3, his name appeared on Rosfinmonitoring’s register with an asterisk, meaning he is charged under a “terrorism” article. There are no other details about the younger Nikitin’s case.

Nikitin’s father answered a call from Important Stories and said he knew nothing about any criminal prosecution. “You must have the wrong person. There’s some kind of mistake; you’re not the first person to call me,” he said. He told the Telegram channel Post- the same thing. Nikolai’s brother did not respond to a message from the newsroom.

❓ Before Nikitin, the youngest person on the list was 14-year-old Sofya Moiseyeva from Samara, who is three weeks older than Nikolai.

❓ As the girl’s mother told the Telegram channel Post-, Sofya “kept stickers featuring the Kerch shooter and ran a Telegram channel in which investigators saw calls for terrorism.” The woman said a 16-year-old online friend from Ukraine had allegedly asked Sofya to become an administrator of the channel.

As Important Stories noted, Sofya was an active user of a fan chat about the 2002 film Zero Day, which tells the story of teenagers planning an attack on a school. In the chat, she discussed fan fiction about the film’s characters with other teenagers.
