Trump really needs to quit politics. The old man shouldn't be burdened with tasks beyond his abilities. He is clearly incapable of anything more demanding than picking out self-tanner or taste-testing cola.

There's no point attaching any significance to his statements about "peace soon" or an "amazing agreement."

Nor, for that matter, is there any point trying to understand the reasons for his abnormal behavior or his dealings with Putin.

“I think he's been bought.” Former commander of the U.S. Army in Europe accuses Trump of being under Putin's influence

Ben Hodges, the former commander of U.S. Army forces in Europe, said that he believes U.S. President Donald Trump is under Vladimir Putin's influence.

“It's absolutely obvious that Vladimir Putin is somehow putting pressure on Trump. I think he's been bought!” the retired general said on the political talk show Maybrit Illner on ZDF.

ZDF's U.S. correspondent Elmar Theveßen suggested that, following the Republicans' defeat in the congressional elections, investigations into the Trump administration could lead to criminal cases.

Yes, Trump really did have a 100% certain, simple and easy chance to end the war in a day.

A shipment of 200 "Tomahawks" to Ukraine would have made the Kremlin faint.

And deploying those missiles would have forced Russia to make peace on any terms, up to and including a return to the 2014 borders.

Add the entry of a couple of U.S. divisions to the "Tomahawks" (which Reagan would have done immediately), and Putin and Lavrov, waving trowels and wearing blue-and-yellow overalls, would have long since been mixing concrete themselves to rebuild the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut.

There's a very high probability that no launches would even have been needed.

Trump really did have every possible means of forcing the maniac to make peace. He wasn't lying.

Instead, we got the absurdity of Anchorage and so on.

What we have now is a Trump battered by the elections, an emboldened Putin and an endless war.
