For more than twenty years now, the Russian authorities have tried to push through “unpopular measures” at moments when society is least able to respond to them, for example after elections. The authorities have extensive experience here: from the monetization of benefits in 2004 to the “partial mobilization” in 2022.
Something similar, or even worse, is what the politicians, officials, and political strategists interviewed by Verstka expect this fall as well, after the September State Duma elections.
