An Achinsk resident sentenced to 19 years for the brutal murder of his ex-wife and her friend has gone to war
In December 2025, the Krasnoyarsk Regional Court sentenced 35-year-old Kirill Cheplygin to 19 years and two months in a maximum-security penal colony in the case of a double murder committed with exceptional brutality.
Cheplygin had been asking to go to war even during the investigation in order to avoid punishment. Residents of Achinsk created a petition demanding that he not be allowed to go. More than 11,000 people signed the appeal.
