Romania Expels a Russian Diplomat
Romania Expels a Russian Diplomat
Romania’s Foreign Ministry said it had summoned the Russian ambassador in Bucharest because from July 24 to 26 the Romanian armed forces shot down three drones "that entered the country’s territory without authorization."
The ambassador was shown fragments of a drone destroyed over Romania. According to the ministry, it was a Russian drone.
"During the meeting, the Romanian side expressed a firm protest against these illegal and irresponsible actions. It was emphasized that it is absolutely unacceptable for the Russian Federation to continue violating Romania’s airspace, which is also the airspace of NATO and the European Union," the Romanian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Russian ambassador was informed of the decision to declare one employee of the Russian Embassy in Bucharest persona non grata; he must leave Romania within five days.
