The killer of two people went off to war. A petition demanding that he not be sent to the front has gathered 11,000 signatures

Kirill Cheplygin, who received 19 years in a penal colony for the murder of his ex-wife and her new partner, signed a contract on the day the verdict came into force, June 9, writes “Gorod A,” citing the mother of the murdered woman.

In February 2025, Cheplygin lay in wait in the entrance hall with a knife for his ex-wife Yekaterina and her partner Vyacheslav, chased them around the courtyard, and ultimately stabbed both of them to death. After returning to the apartment, he tried to kill himself, but survived.

As 7x7 writes, after learning of Cheplygin’s plans to go fight in the war, Yekaterina’s relatives created a petition demanding that he not be sent to the front; it gathered 11,000 signatures.

The authors claimed that the killer “had never been a patriot of our country, had never expressed a desire to become a participant in the special military operation, did not support our government, and criticized all decisions by the authorities,” and now simply wants to avoid punishment.
