Romania has declared a Russian embassy employee persona non grata after drone incidents
This was stated in a post by Romania’s Foreign Ministry on X.
The reason was incidents "during the period from July 24 to 26, 2026, in which the Romanian Armed Forces shot down three drones that had illegally entered the country’s territory," the ministry said.
The Russian diplomat was shown the wreckage of a drone destroyed on Romanian territory. Official investigations conducted by the prosecutor’s office confirmed that these components are of Russian origin,
the Foreign Ministry said.
One of the employees of the Russian diplomatic mission in Bucharest was declared persona non grata and ordered to leave Romania’s territory. Romania’s Foreign Ministry also recalled its ambassador to Russia to Bucharest for consultations.
