Alexander Chaiko, implicated in the killings of civilians in Bucha, has been appointed the new head of Russia's Aerospace Forces

Colonel General Alexander Chaiko has been appointed commander-in-chief of Russia's Aerospace Forces, RBC writes, citing sources in the Defense Ministry.

🔵Since 2023, the Aerospace Forces had been commanded by General Viktor Afzalov.

🔵Earlier this year, the European Union imposed sanctions on Chaiko and eight other commanders implicated in the killings of civilians in Bucha in March 2022. At that time, Chaiko held the post of commander of the Eastern Military District.

🔵Journalists from the Associated Press and PBS established that orders for the mass killings were given by high-ranking commanders and personally approved by Chaiko.
