The word “luck” was recognized as symbolism of the “extremist movement” AUE
A court in Buryatia fined two inmates of Penal Colony No. 2 for displaying the symbols of the “extremist movement” AUE, a category into which it included the word “luck,” the outlet “Verstka” writes.
The court rulings state that the inmates, Sambu Radnabazarov and Aleksandr Goncharov, were learning to write. In postcards they wrote “luck” and “With prisoner’s respect.” FSIN staff considered these words to be a display of the symbols of an extremist organization.
The inmates admitted guilt. “He did not understand the meaning of these words. Now he understands and does not use these expressions,” both rulings say. The court fined each inmate 1,000 rubles.
AUE stands for “the prisoners’ way is one” or “prisoners’ criminal unity.” In 2020, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation declared AUE an “extremist organization” and banned it.
