In Russia, ahead of the State Duma elections, the campaign against the Yabloko party has intensified. After the arrest of Yabloko deputy chairman Maxim Kruglov and the fine imposed on party leader Nikolai Rybakov, the authorities went after politicians in the regions as well: they are being searched, detained, and fined. As Meduza’s sources say, pressure on Yabloko was increased in order to prevent the party from putting well-known figures on its electoral list, both nationwide and at the level of individual regions, or to force it in principle to отказаться from nominating a list at all.
