VTB chief says Russia has become ‘too obsessed’ with the word ‘sovereignty’
VTB chief Andrei Kostin said this at a plenary session of the Financial Congress.
It seems to me that today we have become too obsessed with the word “sovereignty,” trying to build it everywhere. Some clients were even arguing to me that sovereignty in the production of chocolate candies is a task now facing the country,
Kostin said.
In the VTB chief’s view, Russia cannot “develop equally in all areas in order to ensure sovereignty, and in order to take some leading positions, including in the economy, including the global economy.”
Kostin called for defining priority areas, citing the defense sector, the nuclear industry, aviation, and space as examples.
