An "ideal storm" has begun in the Russian economy. The combination of a whole heap of negative factors has accelerated the development of a structural crisis which, if it has not yet entered an acute phase, will do so within the next 2–3 months. At the same time, the authorities are diligently pretending that nothing extraordinary is happening and are trying to fight these "temporary difficulties" in "manual mode."
