Truck freight rates across Russia have hit a historic high amid gasoline shortages
Rates for truck cargo transportation along the 100 most popular routes in Russia have reached a historic high amid gasoline shortages, according to the ATI freight exchange index, as noted by «Verstka».
On June 30, the indicator reached an absolute all-time high of 2057 points, and by July 1 it had edged down slightly to 2046. The previous record was marked by the creators of the resource on January 8 of this year at 2033 points. At the time, this was explained by “the peak of the hot season.”
The same index in the refrigerated transport subsection, which usually concerns deliveries of food products, medicines, industrial electronics, and chemical compounds, has also been showing record growth since February of this year.
As one example, the compilers of the index cite average rates for transport in closed trucks without refrigeration on the St. Petersburg-Moscow route. There, rates began rising immediately after the major attack on the Moscow oil refinery. On the day of the attack, June 18, they stood at 58.9 rubles per kilometer, and on July 1 at 60.8 rubles per kilometer (an increase of 3.2%). Over the past 12 months, the increase in these rates has totaled 19.2%.
🟦The «ATI. SU FTL RF» index tracks the aggregate change in rates that customers offer on the freight exchange of the same name. It takes into account the 100 most popular routes in the Russian Federation and transport by fully loaded vehicles with a payload capacity of 20 tons and a trailer volume of 82 cubic meters, with various body types: open, closed, and refrigerated. This index is also used by Russian business media outlets, including «Kommersant» and RBC.
