Experts have not recorded improvements in the performance of site “white lists” despite Putin’s order to ensure their uninterrupted operation by July 1

The IT project On the Line has not recorded any significant improvements in the functioning of sites on the “white lists,” despite Vladimir Putin’s order to ensure the uninterrupted operation of services by July 1. A representative of the project told Vyorstka this.

“So far we have not observed any significant improvements. There are still complaints that during a [mobile internet] shutdown, even the ‘white lists’ do not work,” On the Line said.

The number of these complaints in June was about the same as in previous months, the project added.

“As for whether they work, the situation fluctuates: in the same region there are places where it works and places where it doesn’t. There are also situations where only part of the ‘white list’ works,” the analysts explained.

In addition, for some regions it is still unclear whether “white lists” have actually been introduced there or not, On the Line added. “If there is only one report from a region in a month, that is not grounds to say there are ‘white lists’ there,” the experts say.

Still, they noted, only Russian operators have precise data on possible improvements in the functioning of the “white lists.”

🟦On May 30, Putin instructed the government together with the FSB to improve the operation of the “white lists.” By July 1, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and FSB chief Alexander Bortnikov were supposed to submit a report on the matter. Vyorstka did not find publicly available information about reports or meetings concerning the operation of the “white lists.”
