“Show this video to somebody, how they’re sending people off to war”

A 19-year-old Russian contract soldier from the 336th Marine Regiment recorded a video showing him and other wounded servicemen being taken into the combat zone to take part in assault operations.

The guy is clearly stunned by what is happening and cannot believe that, while on crutches, like other maimed men, he can be so easily sent to certain death. How, in the internet age, someone can still not know what is really happening in the Russian army is a mystery.

The fact that the Russian Armed Forces form separate assault units out of the wounded and those not fully treated, the so-called “cripple regiments,” has been widely known since 2023. All Telegram channels are packed with the kinds of videos this youngster is filming: thousands upon thousands of Russian soldiers have died because they were sent into assaults instead of being treated. We at the “I Want to Live” project regularly publish information about this (one, two, three, four, five)

The I Want to Return project, which has the largest database on Russian Armed Forces losses among the dead and wounded, has already published more than 125 thousand records on Russian servicemen who were wounded. And that is not even a third of the total number of wounded servicemen. Many of them were returned to the front in exactly the same way without proper treatment, after which they later died or went missing.

So the young guy is badly mistaken if he thinks this video will help him. It will only add to the archive of similar desperate appeals. He should have thought earlier and contacted the “I Want to Live” project.

Crutches Now Count as Deployment Gear

A wounded contract soldier on crutches is sent into assaults with other injured troops.

Treatment was replaced with a ride to slaughter.
