In the new edition of the 11th-grade history textbook edited by Vladimir Medinsky, dozens of wordings related to the war, Ukraine, the US, and the West were changed.

Main changes:

▶️ Instead of "pressure from the US," it now simply says "pressure on Russia." In many places, the US was replaced with the vaguer concept of the "collective West."

▶️Claims that the US was "fighting to the last Ukrainian" and that it was Washington that used Georgia for its own interests have disappeared from the textbook. Responsibility is now assigned to the "West."

▶️An account of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in the spring of 2022 has been added. It is claimed that they were disrupted by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

▶️A positive assessment of Donald Trump's role has appeared for the first time. The textbook says that under him, the war supposedly would not have happened, and also mentions his meeting with Vladimir Putin as evidence of Russia's and the US's desire for cooperation.

▶️Materials were added to the textbook about Vladimir Putin's re-election with a result of 87%, which the authors call evidence of citizens' "enormous trust."

▶️Mentions of the Akhmat special forces and its commander Apti Alaudinov have disappeared from the list of war heroes. New names have appeared in their place.

The authors call the changes a routine annual update. However, the new edition shows that the school history course continues to change rapidly in step with the current political agenda.
