One of Sergei Ivanov’s sons became a vice president of Gazprombank at 25, and at 29, deputy chairman of the management board. The other got a position at VEB and also went unpunished after a fatal traffic accident.
After Ivanov’s death, his family was left with substantial capital as well. In real estate alone, we found 4.2 billion rubles’ worth: a huge house on Rublyovka, giant apartments in Dubai, apartments in Moscow, land by the sea.
For decades, the Putin system has worked for the same families: the parents get power and the opportunity to steal, the children get positions, billions, and a life unavailable to ordinary Russians.
