❗️Russia’s Defense Ministry announced a ceasefire for May 8-9

The military ministry’s statement says that the ceasefire is being declared “in accordance with” Putin’s decision.

“We expect the Ukrainian side to follow this example,” the Defense Ministry said.

In the event of attempts to “disrupt the celebration” of May 9, Russia’s Defense Ministry threatened a “retaliatory, massive missile strike” on central Kyiv. The statement says that Russia had previously allegedly refrained from such strikes for “humanitarian reasons.”

“We warn Kyiv’s civilian population and employees of foreign diplomatic missions of the need to leave the city in a timely manner,” the statement says.

Ukraine has not yet commented on the Russian Defense Ministry’s statement.
