Court releases woman who packed a hookah on an Easter cake

The court has released the woman who packed a hookah on an Easter cake. She was sentenced to 200 hours of compulsory labor.

Earlier, the woman had been sentenced to 3 years and 25 days in a penal colony in combination with a suspended sentence for possession of mephedrone, after being found guilty of offending the feelings of believers. The court has now overturned the decision to revoke the suspended sentence in the drug case, so in practice she only has 200 hours of compulsory labor left to serve.

Before the case was reconsidered, the woman sent a letter of repentance to the Russian Orthodox Church. In response, the church asked the court to reduce her sentence.
