More than 50 British MPs have called on the authorities to consider the possibility of banning the animated series "Masha and the Bear," The Guardian writes. In their view, the project is an instrument of Russian "soft power" and contains elements of propaganda.

The appeal says that in some episodes Masha appears in a Soviet military uniform and headgear associated with Soviet security structures. The authors of the letter believe this helps normalize Soviet military symbolism among children.

The UK government has not yet announced any decisions regarding this appeal.
