Exmo sales director given a suspended sentence

Artem Vakhlyaev was given a 4-year suspended sentence, exactly what the prosecutor’s office had requested. Artem Vakhlyaev and two of his colleagues, Pavel Ivanov and Dmitry Protopopov, were detained in May 2025, placed under house arrest, and a year later released under a ban on certain actions.

They were accused of distributing LGBT literature, in particular the novel Summer in a Pioneer Tie by Elena Malisova and Katerina Sylvanova.

Pavel Ivanov was also given a suspended sentence: he too admitted guilt and testified against other defendants in the case. Dmitry Protopopov has not yet been sentenced.
