Career convict Vadim Voinov, who is currently serving his sentence in compulsory labor, frankly described what awaits prisoners recruited by the Ministry of Defense for the “special military operation.” According to him, he has many such acquaintances, and all of them complain that prisoners are used to “plug holes” in the most dangerous sectors of the front, that the wounded are not evacuated, and that the dead are not recognized as dead. Convicts are bluntly sent against Ukrainian positions as suicide troops. Most of them are killed without even entering combat — drones destroy them on the way in, or even before they are sent out on the combat mission at all.

Voinov also confirmed that prisoners in penal colonies are subjected to extreme pressure — unbearable conditions are created to force them to sign contracts. The Russian state shamelessly uses these people as a cheap, rightless resource, and then throws them away like the last trash: no status, no benefits, no payments.
