More than 10,000 residents of Bashkortostan have died in the war against Ukraine

The number of confirmed military deaths from Bashkortostan in the war in Ukraine has exceeded 10,000 people, Mediazona reports. The republic became the first region of Russia to cross that mark.

Mediazona journalists, together with the BBC and a team of open-data volunteers, confirmed the deaths of 10,012 people from Bashkortostan.

As of July 3, journalists and volunteers had identified the names of 230,624 Russian servicemen killed since the start of the full-scale war.
