Russia will “activate” cyber squads and media patrols made up of students

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin approved measures to “prevent negative social phenomena among children and young people” for the next four years.

The plan developed by Rosmolodezh includes 41 measures — from “creating or activating cyber squads” to blocking information about attacks on schools.

The document says regional governments must carry out “measures to identify minors planning unlawful acts aimed at destabilizing the operational situation.”

Such “acts” include both spreading “false information” and “involving minors in unauthorized events or sabotage activities.”

🔹Rosmolodezh said that “cyber squads and media patrols” in their current form have existed since 2023: “These are youth volunteer associations based in schools, vocational schools, colleges, and universities.”

These young people “patrol” social networks, messengers, forums, and video hosting platforms for “materials aimed at involving the younger generation in activities threatening their life and health: suicide, drugs, bullying, fakes, attacks on educational institutions, and much more.” The decisions of these “squads” are sent to relevant agencies for review and “further blocking of content.”
