Gazprom signs agreement with the Defense Ministry to create mobile fire groups

As Echo writes, citing Gazprom internal documents, the task of the mobile groups is to "patrol and protect gas supply facilities." Those wishing to sign a contract for service in such groups must pass a medical examination, a "thorough selection process," and two months of training.

Employees are promised their average salary plus additional payments from the Defense Ministry, including for time spent in the reserve and for participation in military training assemblies.

Those who sign the contract are also entitled to monthly compensation from their employer of 200,000 rubles for taking part in the assemblies. Employees who sign the contract keep their jobs for the period of military training.

Contract personnel are promised free three meals a day, free examinations and treatment, life and health insurance, and free travel to and from the training site.

During the assemblies, as the documents say, reservists may be deployed "to ensure the protection of critically important facilities and other life-support facilities only within the territory of the region where the contract was signed." At the same time, the reservists allegedly will not be considered active servicemen.

A contract for service in the mobilization reserve is signed for three years; subsequent contracts can be signed for three years, five years, or a shorter term if the maximum age is approaching (52 for enlisted personnel, 57 for junior officers, and 62 for senior officers).
