Peskov: The Kremlin will not congratulate Péter Magyar on his victory in Hungary’s elections because it is an “unfriendly country”

The Kremlin will not congratulate Péter Magyar on winning Hungary’s parliamentary elections, said Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

“We do not send congratulations to unfriendly countries. And Hungary is an unfriendly country; it supports sanctions against us,” Peskov told Life journalist Alexander Yunashev.

At the same time, in April 2022, when Viktor Orbán’s party Fidesz won the elections in Hungary, Vladimir Putin sent him a congratulatory telegram.

🔹In a recent interview, Péter Magyar, leader of the Tisza party that convincingly won yesterday’s elections in Hungary, said the following about relations with Russia:

Of course, if circumstances require it, we will have to sit down at the negotiating table with the Russian president. The geographical positions of neither Russia nor Hungary will change. And our energy dependence will also remain for some time. Diversification must be strengthened, but it cannot be done overnight.

If necessary, we will negotiate, but we will not become friends.
