45-year-old Anton Milaev is no ordinary prisoner of war, no matter how much he might wish otherwise. The reason is that his grandfather, the famous circus artist Yevgeny Milaev, at one time married Galina, the daughter of Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev, which saddled Anton with the title of “Brezhnev’s great-grandson” for the rest of his life.

Milaev’s fate is proof that Russia is a land of opportunity, and no matter who you are, you can still end up at the “SMO” in the end. Anton got to the war the same way as tens of thousands of other “ordinary” Russian men: he needed money, so he decided to sign a contract. Yes, yesterday you belonged to the most influential family on one-sixth of the earth’s landmass, and today you go kill in a neighboring country to pay off debts.

In the Russian army, nobody paid any attention to Anton’s pedigree, and he predictably ended up on the front line. In the Kherson direction, he managed to take part in one combat mission before ending up in captivity. It happened at the very first encounter with Ukrainian drones: Milaev himself raised his hands and surrendered.
