Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of violating the "silence regime" that Kyiv declared unilaterally.

"Russia's choice is an obvious rejection of silence and of preserving lives," he wrote on social media, saying that, according to Ukraine's data, since the start of the day Russian forces had carried out 1,820 active actions, including shelling, assault attempts, and airstrikes.

Ukraine clearly stated that it would act symmetrically, taking into account the obsessive Russian appeals through the media and social networks asking for silence during the Moscow parade. It is obvious to all normal people that a full-scale war and the daily killing of people are a bad time for public "celebrations."

Zelensky said he would decide on further actions after the evening reports from the military and intelligence.

Zelensky unilaterally declared a "silence regime" from midnight on May 6. Before that, the Russian Defense Ministry also unilaterally declared a "truce" for May 8-9.

Russia did not publicly comment in any way on Zelensky's "silence regime" and did not promise to join it. At the same time, the Russian Defense Ministry threatened that if Ukraine did not agree to the "truce" on May 8-9, Russian forces would carry out a massive strike on central Kyiv.
