Singer Monetochka sentenced in absentia to one year in prison over posts without mentioning her "foreign agent" status

This was reported by Mediazona.

Reading out the indictment, the prosecutor said that the singer disagrees "with the main directions of the foreign and domestic policy of the Russian Federation, including in the field of defense" and felt "hostility toward the activities of the president" and the Russian armed forces.

Monetochka's lawyer, Ilnur Sharapov, asked for the case to be dismissed. He said that the singer's actions did not lead to a violation of anyone's rights and that there are no injured parties in the case.

"It is unclear what negative consequences there can be from a 'foreign agent' distributing materials without labeling them," the lawyer noted.
