There are no plans to introduce charges for VPN traffic, the Digital Development Ministry says
Deputy head of the ministry Ivan Lebedev said this during a plenary session in the State Duma, commenting on a lawmaker's remarks about introducing an additional charge for foreign internet traffic.
"Charges for foreign traffic are not under consideration," he noted (quoted by RIA Novosti).
🔵Initially, the fee was supposed to be introduced by May 1, then from June 1.
🔵In May, RBC sources claimed that the introduction of an additional charge for using more than 15 gigabytes of international traffic per month was planned to be postponed until closer to autumn; another source told the outlet that the fee could be introduced after the September 18-20 State Duma elections.
