A court has banned the YaPlakal portal in Russia.

The ruling was issued by Moscow’s Chertanovo District Court in response to a lawsuit from the prosecutor’s office, which had been checking compliance with legislation in the area of interethnic relations.

The agency said that the website, as well as two other resources with jokes, contained “statements that can be classified as degrading human dignity, as well as aimed at discrimination against and insulting people on the basis of nationality and race.”

It is not specified which exact materials led to the ban.

A Ban With No Evidence Shown
