Russian schools have started banning graduation waltzes to foreign songs, Mash writes.

For example, at one school in Ryazan Region, 11th-graders were not allowed to dance to Sting’s Shape of My Heart — they were told to replace the song with "The Last Waltz" from the series "Landyshi." Similar cases occurred in Yaroslavl and Tambov regions: performances to songs by Toni Braxton and Whitney Houston were banned.

The regional Education Ministry explained that the formal basis was the federal law banning Anglicisms. In addition, graduation songs must comply with "traditional values".
