Attention: Rubio did NOT say that the U.S. is discussing the possibility of Ukraine penetrating deep into the Russian Federation so that Russia would see how difficult it is to defend its own airspace.

The context there was completely different. It was a question from a Ukrainian journalist. Trump didn’t quite understand her accent (and in general he’s been hard of hearing lately and often asks people to repeat themselves) and asked Rubio to retell the essence of the question to him.

And Rubio did retell it: it was about the journalist’s request to assess Ukraine’s ability to penetrate deep into the Russian Federation. And he confirmed: it really has become harder for Russians lately to defend their airspace.

But neither Trump nor Rubio promised any new opportunities for Ukrainian strikes deep into the Russian Federation.
