The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced the temporary reinstatement of the membership of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) and recommended lifting all restrictions on Russian athletes, according to a press release on the organization’s website.

“The decision was made after a thorough analysis conducted by the IOC Legal Affairs Commission, taking into account that the ROC no longer includes regional sports organizations in territories under the jurisdiction of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine. In addition, the ROC confirmed that it is not conducting and will not conduct any activity in these territories,” the statement says.

At the same time, the IOC has not yet made a decision on the return of the Russian flag, anthem, and other national symbols to the Olympic Games.

“The IOC will not hold its own events in Russia and will not invite representatives of the Russian government or state bodies to its events. The IOC will decide later on the possible use of the Russian flag, anthem, colors, or other national symbols at the Olympic Games,” the organization explained.
