Tatarstan resident Kirill Gerasimov was drafted into the army at the end of 2024. A couple of months later, he decided to sign a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry, after which he ended up in the combat zone in Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region. The first time he ran away from the army was in the fall of last year, but he was "not ready for the difficulties of emigration." He returned to the front and fought for another six months.

In May 2026, Gerasimov left the country for good and settled in Armenia. In Russia, a criminal case was opened against him and he was placed on the wanted list. In a conversation with "Idel.Realii," the Tatarstan native spoke about his participation in the war and the reasons for fleeing the front.
