Zelensky’s Office asked Ukraine’s prosecutor general to open a criminal case against Lukashenko

The office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked the Office of the Prosecutor General to consider the possibility of opening a criminal case against Alexander Lukashenko. Prosecutor General’s Office spokesperson Maryana Haievska-Kovbasiuk confirmed this information to Ukrinform.

The initiative to open a criminal case against Lukashenko was brought to Zelensky’s Office by representatives of the Belarusian opposition — the “Forum of Democratic Forces,” among whose founders is former Belarusian presidential candidate Valery Tsepkalo. He and his associates proposed that Kyiv give a legal assessment of Lukashenko’s role in Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

On July 28, the Telegram channel of the “Forum of Democratic Forces” published a letter from Zelensky’s Office. It said that the request to open a criminal case against Lukashenko had been forwarded to Ukraine’s prosecutor general.
