In St. Petersburg, urban preservation activist Oleg Mukhin and CPRF deputy Ivan Apostolevsky were jailed over links to Facebook and Instagram
The decision by the city’s Smolninsky District Court to send the men to a special detention center for ten days under protocols for displaying “extremist” symbols was reported by Mediazona.
The grounds for drawing up the protocols were links to Facebook and Instagram in VKontakte posts: for Mukhin, from 2020; for Apostolevsky, from 2018.
Mukhin was detained on July 9 near the deteriorating historic building of Mikhailovskaya Dacha under the pretext of meeting with journalists. Apostolevsky was detained the same day near his home while on his way to meet with residents in Sosnovy Bor. They spent the night in a police station.
