Russia has disabled the ability to access blocked resources using foreign SIM cards

Owners of SIM cards from foreign operators have lost the ability to freely access services that cannot be reached from within Russia. Several users of such cards told Izvestia about this. According to one of them, a roaming connection, under which internet access is effectively routed through the infrastructure of foreign telecom operators, no longer makes it possible to bypass the blocks in force in Russia.

At the same time, according to the users interviewed, access remains to services that independently restricted their operations in our country, for example Netflix and a number of foreign neural networks.

The same information was also confirmed to Izvestia by two sources close to mobile operators. The Digital Development Ministry explained that a general filtering regime in force on the territory of our country is applied to the roaming internet traffic of foreign subscribers when they use the networks of Russian telecom operators. The ministry noted that this approach is aimed at "ensuring security in the digital space."
