VTsIOM recorded a further decline in Putin’s rating

The state-owned Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) recorded a drop in Vladimir Putin’s trust rating for the second week in a row.

According to the results of a survey conducted on July 5, 72.3% of respondents said they trusted Putin, compared with 73.3% the previous week.

The president’s job approval rating came in at 66.0%, versus 66.9% a week earlier. It, too, has now been declining for the second straight week.

Russian polling services (VTsIOM and FOM) began recording a decline in Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ratings in the spring of 2026. The drop in ratings continued against the backdrop of the fuel crisis in Russia.

At the beginning of May, VTsIOM changed its survey methodology and began conducting not only telephone interviews but also door-to-door surveys, that is, asking people in person. Despite this, the surveys continued to show a decline in Putin’s rating.
