The parade in Moscow will take place without military hardware, and there will be no “Immortal Regiment” march. Here is a list of Russian cities that have scrapped parades altogether, or decided not to bring out military hardware
Russian authorities traditionally hold military parades for May 9 in dozens of cities across the country. However, against the backdrop of the full-scale war with Ukraine, many regions are canceling parades or preparing to hold them in a reduced format. For example, in Moscow, for the first time since 2007, the parade will take place without military hardware. The restrictions have also affected “Immortal Regiment” marches: in some cities, they will be held only online. Based on publications by Russian media outlets (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) and open data, Meduza compiled lists showing how Russia will celebrate May 9 in the fifth year of the big war with Ukraine.
