A terrifying thought constantly comes to mind: that this senseless war will not end even if there is a truce with a ceasefire tomorrow. Dozens of millions of people who enjoyed watching military propaganda and supporting all of this, pouring hatred onto Ukrainians, migrants, Europeans, and many others, wherever they are told to, are not going to disappear from the Russian Federation. They will need a new dose of hatred, like an alcoholic needs another bottle.

Those who return from the war and its fans will develop their own mythology about how wonderful it was, how greatly we lived and how everyone respected us (the same kind that happened with the USSR, which most of the people living in it hated). The heads of the military-industrial complex will want a new war so that the war machine does not stop churning out weapons. Politicians will need to justify all of this so they do not lose their seats. Everyone will need a new dose of war to justify their existence, repress dissenters, and distract people from a hard life. Anyone who thinks the shooting will stop and life will immediately become good can look at places where this state already staged slaughter in past years, and where behind the occasional beautiful facade are impoverished people intimidated by the endless lawlessness of the authorities appointed over them.

This peace will only be temporary, until a new war with yet another invented enemy.
